My students need two Apple TV receivers and two HDMI Adaptors to connect our current projectors to the Apple TV so we can share our learning in multiple classrooms.
My 21st century learners are looking for answers to tomorrow's problems and finding fun in learning with the use of technology.
In my regular education classroom I have 23 second graders who have diverse learning needs, but for the most part they are bright, active, hands-on learners, who love technology-based learning activities.
In our classroom we have a ten MacBook laptops and five iPads. My students would be able to use any of these devices to project and mirror their learning for the class to see using the Apple TV. I also have one student who is physically unable to move about the classroom with ease. Having an Apple TV would allow her to more easily share her learning with the class.
My Project
With this Apple TV setup my class, would be able to be mobile in the classroom with technology. Which means we would be completely wireless and have the ability to interact with the world outside our classroom without being connected to a laptop or iPad that is connected to a wire. We would be able to communicate from iPad or laptop in the classroom through our Apple TV without moving from our seats. More excitingly we can also share our learning with other classes in our building that have Apple TVs, which would allow the classes to collaborate on projects. Finally, this would make it possible to connect to interactive experiences outside our classroom as a whole. The learning here is limitless.
This project would not only impact my current class of 23 second, but future classes of students.
These Apple TVs would allow my 21 Century learners to practice and use 21 Century skills. This project would impact the amount of paper that is used in our rooms, by making a lot of our "paper" activities technology-based. This is the world our children already live in, making the school/home technology connection.
