My Project
The items requested will allow my students with special needs to make food bags for their peers and non disabled peers who don't always have food to eat. The food we are requesting only requires hot water, if it requires anything. This will show my students that some individuals are not blessed enough to have access to a stove or oven, so they need to be able to eat food that requires little to no preparation. My students do know these students, but they do not know their financial struggles. We will show the students how to care help those less fortunate in several ways, one of which is by giving their peers a few meals, in their time of need. We will measure success of understanding compassion by asking what they would need if: they had no food, if they had not electricity, if they lived in a non-traditional home setting or a home that was different than their home. We will tally the data, then discuss all results of the survey. We will then have the students write a note to add to each bags to include with the food to encourage their peers emotionally as well.
