My Students

My students are Kindergarten students from an urban setting. My school is a non-profit, and I spend a lot of money out of pocket every year in my classroom. Parents often cannot afford supplies or to help. Students are being introduced to the school setting. I teach from the carpet whole group and interactive so students can work hands on with materials. I also teach in a small group setting and the time they spend in centers is used to catch them up and teach the curriculum to them. I have students at all different levels so centers are necessary. They are hard workers. They come in with limited language arts and mathematics skills. I spend a good quarter every year teaching letter knowledge and number sense. Ninety percent of my students from last year tested as not on track according to AIMS web.

My Project

This material will allow my students the chance to be able to learn how to write. This tool will mean my students can come up and practice shared writing and editing as a whole group. In Kindergarten writing is one of the hardest things to learn and teach. This tool will ensure that all students are engaged and have a chance to participate. It will also ensure real time learning and make writing that much more fun. It will also be used as a center in my classroom so students can practice writing together without the teacher.
