Share your Voice: Enhancing Communication Through Headsets with Mics
Help me give my students a class set of headsets with mics so they can communicate in different ways and share their voices!

My Students
I teach 7th, 8th and 9th grade junior high students who are awesome! Many of my students come from lower-income situations and work hard for everything they have. Despite the living situations of my students, I strive to teach them not solely Spanish grammar or vocabulary, but rather the importance of communication and sharing their voices and experiences to lead our world into a better place.
All students come from different situations, backgrounds and with different language levels, but where they are not different is in their commitment to growth and getting better every single day.
As our school transitions to primarily digital formats during ever-changing Covid-19 adaptations, it is very important for students to find a way to communicate in order to grow in their language proficiency and to share their voices! Join us in the celebration of these students sharing their voices, growing in their communication skills and preparing for the present and the future!
My Project
Have you ever negotiated a price in a market, for a house or for a car? Have you ever been involved in a debate? Have you ever recorded a video (or dare I say it, a Tik Tok?) and then not had the sound work? As seems to be the theme in 2020, things are unorthodox and we have to roll with the punches. All of those experiences listed above involve key aspects of language and communication, and are all examples of activities we do in my Dual Language Immersion Spanish classes. As is the case in our everyday life this year, our in-class language experiences must be different given our Covid-19 safety protocols, but surely nothing will hold our students back. These headsets with mics can make these language learning experiences as realistic as possible during this time, and we need your help.
With these headsets, students will be able to maximize their classroom participation by engaging in discussion, debates, conversations, audio books, presentations and more while simultaneously following our district's Covid-19 safety protocols.
Through these different activities, and with the help of the headsets, students will be able to continue to grow in their language learning and proficiency and improve their communication. This growth will not only help them learn new, important skills in the present, but also set them up to be successful and skilled leaders and communicators in the future.
