My Students
I teach in a school that calls itself "the greatest school on Earth" because we believe that. What makes our school so great are the students in our classrooms. They come from various backgrounds and neighborhoods surrounding our school area. These students are the reason I love coming to work and I want to do something to show our community all of the great things that are happening here!
We want to be able to show those outside of our school what we are proud of, but also remind students and staff of all of the things we do that make us "the greatest school on Earth." As you know, that is hard right now because schools have to comply with current health and safety guidelines that prevent family and community members from being able to see what great things are happening inside our walls everyday!
We want to create a living, changing timeline that shows our accomplishments, successes and events that happen throughout our year,
My Project
Our school is a Leader in Me School based on the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, in kid form! That means, at Bowen, we believe every child has great potential, has the ability to lead others in a positive way and should learn in an environment that is built for them. This year, we have asked students to lead in ways that they never have before and they are are excited about the challenge. They are exceeding our expectations in every role they take on.
This main idea of this project is for students to see themselves as an essential part of everything that goes on in this building.
In every common area, classroom and hallway, I want students to see themselves and the good things that they are doing here. This will only encourage students to see the school not only as a building, but a community where they are respected and important.
Student leaders will be in charge of documenting all of the things that happen here - big and small, day to day, in all grade levels. We will use their photos and videos to spread our message of greatness and kindness to everyone in our community, including our families. We are happy to be back in our building, now let's show the people around us what we are doing, so we can all feel like we are apart of things again.
