My students need books on compassion, mindfulness, and diversity to go along with the social-emotional lessons. These books will help my students understand the importance of mindfulness, compassion, and respect for all.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students learn best when they are fully engaged! My students thrive in a classroom environment that accesses their multi-modalities. They learn the most in a hands-on approach to learning. One of the best ways for my students to learn is to engage in the lesson by various methods.
My students are exceptional students!
They are enthusiastic learners and are ready for a challenge! I want to offer many ways for my students to stay engaged in my class by tapping into students' multiple intelligences.
My Project
The books chosen were carefully picked to inspire my students on the importance of mindfulness, kindness, acceptance and to respect diversity in school. I believe the more my students are exposed to social-emotional skills that focus on empathy, kindness, empowerment, and fairness they will be more equipped to make good choices, build positive relationships and have the skills needed for a successful future.
The books on diversity are essential to a culturally responsive classroom that celebrates the similarities and differences of all people of different ethnicities.
It is important to me that my students are represented in the books they read and feel empowered by it.
