My Project

The standard curriculum is not universally effective, particularly when accommodating students at varying levels and with diverse learning styles within the same classroom. My project aims to introduce new books tailored to the units we are adapting to better serve our students' needs. Many of these students lack access to a broad range of reading materials, which is crucial for addressing diverse learning requirements and nurturing a love of reading in all individuals. Our goal is to engage with students on their level by creating a safe and welcoming reading environment where every child can discover joy in books and take pride in their progress.

By providing books that align with each student’s instructional level, we can enhance engagement and set them up for success!

The books will benefit students in our ASD Units from grades Prek-5th. Each book will be paired with an adapted book, visual supports, brightly colored vocabulary words, etc. Many of our students require specially adapted to engage meaningfully with reading materials, and having the right books helps make learning accessible. These books will support literacy growth, spark imagination, and open new worlds for students who learn in different ways.
