My Students

My Students

I have the privilege to work with 20 loving and engaged students in an ICT classroom.

My students range in a variety of learning needs and adaptations. With so many of us, it can get a bit too loud for us to work! Some of my students are sensitive to loud noises and feel unsafe when we reach a really loud speaking tone. However, we want to avoid reaching such a high pitch and making sure we stay on top of time!

My students are still learning to grasp the concept of noise levels. We would really need a yacker tracker and time tracker to help us remain on task. We are a Title 1 school with 85% of our students receiving some kind of assistance.

My Project

Our Kindergartners just can't help those sillies and when we need to move, we move! However during classroom activities, fighting off those wiggles with our current table and carpet seating are not enough. My co-teacher and I would like to provide students with the tools to have all students feel comfortable during whole group and small group activities. As we plan hands-on and interactive lessons, we find that incorporating flexible carpet seating can provide all of our students with the foundation to engage in learning. We need these tools to promote student engagement and focus. As we continue to grow in Kindergarten, our wiggles and silly bones just can't be controlled! At times, it becomes difficult to focus on our lessons and peers when we just have the need to move! These tools will help us feel comfortable at the carpet and foster the confidence to engage in lessons and learning!

Providing flexible seating and OT tools will allow for our students to feel they are able to learn independently in a productive way.

These OT tools will provide us with a classroom environment that encourages them to focus on their work as we continue to address Kinesthetic needs.

Giant comfy pillows and wobble chairs will help students who discover the tools they need to remain focused. Wobble chairs will help our students with OT needs to work on in groups and in comfortable positions. Fidgets and chair bands will help them move their arms and legs in a constructive and non-distracting manner. Wobble chairs and comfy pillow cushions are what we need to will help our students who need constant movement to stay focused during classroom work.
