My Students
Special needs students learn in a different way. One teaching method I use is music.
My class is an inclusion preschool class with half special needs students and half typically developing students.
We live in an area of Virginia with a high military population. Our community is mostly working class with some low income families. My students love school and they love being creative!
My Project
In Virginia we follow the Virginia Foundation Blocks for early learning. These cover basic preschool skills. I like to teach basic skills like letter and number recognition, colors, rhyming, and even science and social studies concepts through music. The CD player I currently have is on its last leg, a new one would be great since we use it every day. The CD's and instruments will help the children get excited about our music and learning activities.

Research has shown that test scores increase when a child learns an instrument. Just think what a great start these preschool students will have with great music experiences.
