Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am the proud teacher of the most amazing group of problem solvers. Students love to learn and engage in real-world problem-solving. They are full of energy, curiosity, and passion.
Puma Pride is our motto; problem-solving, responsibility, integrity, drive, and empathy.
I'm so excited to be able to facilitate their learning as I continue to learn from them every single day. They have the most creative and innovative ideas. My hope is to help them to bring their ideas to life.
My Project
Students will be learning about natural hazards and their local and global impact. Students will engage in the engineering design process to develop a prototype for an earthquake-safe building.
Students will test their prototype made out of sticks in a simulated earthquake and have an opportunity to refine their design and re-test it.
In order to complete this task successfully the funding of this project will provide a sturdy earthquake simulator board that can be re-used.
This hands-on experience is not only engaging but will increase their retention as well as cater to their individual learning styles. All students will be able to access the project in a meaningful way.
