Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My exploration classroom is full of inquisitive, creative, and thoughtful students. The students range in age from seven to eleven years old. My school is located in Nevada in a very high-need community. Our school is a STEAM Academy Elementary School where students are encouraged to invent, explore, create, communicate, and collaborate. They love coming to school to learn and I love watching them grow and succeed in the classroom. I try to make every day a new fun filled adventure.
My Project
The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students will allow my students to explore the history, science, and art of shadow puppetry. They will also learn shadow puppetry techniques while they integrate science, math, world cultures, and literature into their shows.
The donations to this project will allow for the student's learning to really come alive.
The students will use the flashlights and desk lights to create and learn about shadows. The wooden skewers, colored gel paper, and pencils will be used to create the actual shadow puppets that the students will use to tell their stories.
