This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students love to play outdoors, but unfortunately the heat of the sun is extremely difficult on their little bodies. Our class is in desperate need of shading outdoors in our very large, triangular yard. This project will provide enough shade to keep our little ones comfortable and play in the hot Los Angeles sun. The triangle shades will block up to 95% of harmful UV rays. These shades are made from wonderful fabric that will promote constant airflow, which reducing temperatures underneath by up to 40%. When it is over 100 degrees outside, our students will be playing in a cool and comfortable playground.

Since the pandemic so many of our students have not had the opportunity to play outdoors alone, with friends, or with family.

Outdoor play is essential for brain growth and development of my students. They need to move their bodies, learning spiral relationships, continue building relationships, and learn how to collaborative play together. These shades will make outdoor play fun again.
