My Project
My students are creating works with glaze and experimenting with different techniques to express their ideas. We are starting with sgraffito, which is an Italian galzing technique that allows the artist to scrape away the glaze on leather hard clay to reveal a design or image. They learn about texture, positive and negative space, printmaking techniques and the stages of clay. They're excited to move into the next phases of creating with clay now that they have an understanding of all the ways of creating with clay, including hand building and wheel.
