This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are from a high poverty area. They love learning new things and being with their friends. Our first graders need to think about others, their needs and situation in life. Please help my first graders get the materials to make a quilt for someone in need.

My Project

Teaching about being kind to others, while showing sympathy and empathy are very important. We plan to incorporate our quilt making after reading the book The Kindness Quilt. With this activity, students will design their quilting squares with the person in mind that we are making the quilt for.

The quilting supplies will allow all the students to think about others and how we need to lift up others in their times of need.

Please help us teach the students how it is important to lift others up in times of need.
