My Project

I am interested in starting a sewing club in school. We need a couple of sewing machines, fabric and thread to help us get started. I want students to get a chance to make items like pillow cases, backpacks and skirts. I also want the students to learn how to hem, and do basic alterations to make clothing items fit. I think that a sewing club will also help students forge friendships and learn teamwork. Sometimes students don't feel that math is important concept to learn, I think that students will begin to see how to apply these math concepts to real world experiences. Sewing will help them see the importance of learning measurements and also reading comprehension.

Donations to this project will help to bring back the lost art of sewing.

Very few people sew today and students no longer see the importance of creating things with your hands. I think that creative projects allow students to feel pride in accomplishing something with their hands.
