My Project
Alas, we are grieving the loss of our dear hand-me-down sewing machine of 5 years. The sweet Singer survived the shuffle from the attic to the school, accumulation of dust during the pandemic, and hard work sewing crafts to sell in our school cafe. Students, teachers, and parents alike have given love and care to this hardy machine -- but after an extensive visit to the repair shop, we must send it along the Rainbow Road of sewing machines.
Now, we search for a new and shiny sewing machine to bring joy, inspiration, and ingenuity to our middle school classroom.
We need your support to purchase two beautiful and tough Singer sewing machines. These machines will be primarily used for sewing crafts, including eye pillows, scrunchies, cat toys, and pillow cases. However, once students know sewing skills, their imagination blossoms. This year, a student worked on our school machine to sew memory pillows to honor a loved one. Another re-purposed her college-bound sister's jeans to make a hat and scrunchie. Last year, all students sewed quilt squares as part of a geometry unit. In other words, our students love and cherish our sewing machines and find creative ways to incorporate sewing into their projects and academic work. Your support enriches student creativity and learning!
