My Students
Situated in a rural, high poverty area, my school engages learners in 3rd, 4th and 5th grades. We are a positive behavior support school and strive to give our students the best opportunities available to create safe, kind, respectful, responsible learners.
Most of my students do not have access to instruments at home and get most of their music experience in my classroom.
Cultural centers and concert halls are more than an hour away and are often too expensive for students' families. These factors make what happens in music class even more important.
My Project
Students in my classroom are learning to read and perform music as an ensemble. Using pitched and non-pitched instruments they learn to read rhythms and pitches and create music as a team. Right now that sound lacks bass. To add more depth to their performances, bass xylophone bars are needed.
Your donation will add much needed bass sound to our performances and provide more students with an opportunity to play an instrument.
Although it is hard to take turns on the instruments, this bass xylophone bar will allow more students the opportunity to play during each class period. Making music should be an active, hands-on experience.
