School's almost out, yet educators are already beginning to plan for the next school year with eagerness and excitement. After the changes that occurred during Covid, I was displaced from my classroom, or as I called it, my second home. I went with the flow and moved between classrooms, but ultimately didn't get to take belongings with me. Other teachers were utilizing them, and I felt that if students were being able to access my classroom resources then they were being well served.
Thinking about September, I choose items that would set up my students classroom for success.
I requested a printer so that resources may be printed to better support my students during instruction. Many times during small groups or conferencing, I notice a student would benefit from a particular printed resource. Having a classroom printer would provide the opportunity to meet my students needs and their learning styles in real time.
I also felt it was important to have flexible seating arrangements to ensure student comfort. Classrooms can be tight, therefore I was looking for seating that could be stacked up but also comfortable for my students to use during small group, personalized instruction. While some students might be able to use clipboards for their written work, I felt having two lap tables would benefit others.
My core belief is that a classroom has to be organized, accessible and set up for students needs. Therefore I added clear organizational bins that I can label to provide easy access for the students. I see the classroom as one big resource, and everything in it is for the children to be successful, life long learners. As you can see, a classroom set-up is essential for a productive school year and supports the students educational journey.
