My Project
I am a fourth-grade teacher at an elementary in Norman, OK. My students are enthusiastic learners who value all methods of learning. I am looking for funding for some art and learning projects for my students, as well as some new books and various supplies to round out my classroom.
I use project-based learning for my students, and I like to use tools such as LEGO bricks to encourage creative thinking.
I am always a proponent of hands-on learning for my students and want to give them new and fun tools to express their creativity and knowledge. Some of the equipment in my classroom is also outdated and needs to be refreshed to last many more years of my teaching and to help assist my projects. This includes new headphones for my students for auditory learning and more flexible seating options to allow them to feel less restricted than sitting at a desk constantly. We will use lap desks to allow students to work around the classroom.
My focus for this funding is updating our classroom library to include books about diverse figures, cultures, and geography for my students to enjoy. I want my students to be able to learn about different cultures and about the many important figures of modern history, such as the activist Malala and the inventor, Lonnie Johnson. Along with introducing my kids to inspiring figures, we are learning about Asian American and Native American cultures, and the books I have chosen will help my students be exposed to these cultures.
I am always looking to expand my students’ knowledge on topics they may not be introduced to otherwise and use different learning techniques to make sure my students comprehend the curriculum no matter what. Thank you for considering donating!
