My Students
The students in my 5th grade classroom are a diverse group of readers, writers, mathematicians, historians, and thinkers from Flint, Michigan and the surrounding area. These energetic and enthusiastic boys and girls come to school each day ready to buckle down and get to work on the business of learning! Stop by any day of the week, and you will see us problem solving, lending a helping hand to others, and snuggling into the reading area to enjoy a good book!
My Project
An engaging book series can grab the attention of even the most reluctant reading student, and before you know it, a reader is born! Suddenly, they are eager to read and maybe even when they shouldn't be (like in Math class!). It can be frustrating when you can't get those popular books into the hands of your students. When your school has 500 students, and there is only one copy of a Diary of a Wimpy Kid book, your chances of being able to check it out are slim to none. So, we want to add a collection of six of our favorite series books to our own classroom library.
