it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Have you ever read a book by an author you really enjoyed? Then you find out that author has written other books? That's what has happened to my students. I have been reading books to them and they are hooked and want to continue reading books by these authors.
I teach a wide range of students.
Our school is located in a high-need, low income community where English is NOT the dominant language. My students are very eager and excited to learn. They work very hard to acquire English and learn the academics of their native language. In the few first couples of weeks they have developed a love for reading. I am up for the challenge but would love some assistance with supporting my students in becoming motivated,independent,successful readers.
My Project
With these series books my students will be able to feed the hunger they currently have for engaging, interesting , motivating literature that will develop into rich discussions. My students will be able to develop their point of view by reading books by the same author. This will allow them to analyze authors craft through a wide range of different titles. This exposure will lead them into reflecting on their own writing style and refining their skill as writers.
