My Students
Typically, I have around 25-30 students. I teach fifth grade, and my students typically do not have the best home lives. Most of my students come from homes that are struggling financially. A majority of my students come from single-parent homes.
As a result of my students' home lives, I make my classroom become a family.
I help my students become secure with themselves. We also learn how to respect others and ourselves. My students are grateful for everything they are given.
My Project
I love to get my students excited about reading. One of the best ways for students to get into reading is by reading a series that they really like. It helps the students be able to move from book to book, read across text, and predict what the next book will be like.
Throughout my years of teaching my books have already become slightly outdated.
My students want more graphic novels for their series. I have chosen several graphic novels series for my students to be able to really get into reading. Some of my series include: Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Dork Diaries, Amulet, and Babysitters Club Graphic Novels. All of these books my students have already requested!
