My Students
I work with amazing students from PreKindergarten through 4th grade. All my students come to class motivated and ready to work and have great thoughts and ideas that they want to share. They enjoy learning that is paired with games that facilitate communication and personal connections. As an inner city school, many of my students struggle with poverty, food and housing insecurity in addition to having communication impairments. Some of my youngest students have limited words to use and need alternative ways to communicate such as picture symbols and communication boards just to share their basic wants and needs. Other students are learning English as their second language and are new to the country.
I have been buying supplies, test kits and materials to help my students improve their communication skills in Speech & LanguageTherapy but am now in need of new furniture to replace the worn out cracked furniture that is no longer safe.
The existing chairs are have cracked and can pinch little legs. Thank you for helping me provide a safe and motivating classroom to learn in!
My Project
My engaging students ages pre-k through 4th grade will enter our room and feel calm and in-control as they sit at new tables and chairs to learn. Having the appropriate size seating will help my littlest ones be able to touch the floor with their feet and sit comfortably at the table ready to learn. The small rectangular table ensures that I can reach all students and assist them as part of their therapy.
Clearing the clutter with the storage unit will also aid my students in attending to instruction while having necessary materials neatly organized near by.
My speech students will feel important and valued as they engage with their peers and teacher, while sitting at safe, quality tables and chairs. I can't wait for my sweet students to finally have the seating they need. Thank you for considering my project and helping my students have a safe and serene learning space!
