My students need the chair socks to help with mimimizing distraction of moving chairs within the classroom. The mobile organizer will help with our small classroom.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Help us and our floors with the amount of noise and black scuff marks generated from 32 moving chairs in our small classroom. Students move around constantly and the noise can be so distracting and unbearable at times. These chair socks will go a long way.
I teach 32 growing 5th graders of diverse backgrounds in a high needs public school in New York City.
My students are very energetic and inquisitive. They enjoy learning and I try to provide them with an optimal environment that will allow them to do their best learning.
My Project
I am requesting a class set of chair socks and a mobile organizer to assist with classroom management. It is a known fact that students will struggle without a supportive environment and class management. During our workshops when students are required to move around the classroom many of them and myself complain about the noise of the chairs. In addition, the very ugly black scuff marks that remain on the floor as a result of the chairs sliding is not appeasing to our room environment. When you have 32 bodies in a room it can get noisy. These chair socks will help tremendously with minimizing the noise generated from student movement and allow students to stay focused on instruction or the task at hand. It is very easy for students to become unfocused; a fly, a squeak of a chair can cause you precious time of regrouping students to get them back on task. These chair socks will allow us to make smooth, quiet transitions and provide more time for learning and fun.
Many times it is the small things that make a huge difference in a classroom.
Unfortunately with a need to provide the basics such as paper and pencils, items like these are considered to be luxuries. I hope someone will be so kind as to provide my students with the simple classroom luxuries that will enhance their educational environment. My students will have a school oasis which is a nice change from the noisy, busy city life in which they live.
