This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a fourth grade, bilingual teacher to 23 of the most amazing students. Every day my students come to my classroom eager and ready to learn. My students enjoy learning and reading. They all come from low income backgrounds and English is their second language. Our school is one of the biggest elementary schools in the district and we are a Title I school.
My Project
After finishing reading The One and Only Ivan, my students and I realized that there had to be more to the story. We loved reading about Bob and his friends. My students learned about animal rights and friendship. The book taught us to be more compassionate with animals and how to always help and take care of our friends and family. We are excited about the sequel to this amazing story. The new release of The One and Only Bob is on May 5th. They will continue to learn life lessons through the characters and enjoy their new adventures. This will help my students develop a deeper interest and foster a deeper love for reading.
