This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a low-income demographic where they are susceptible to gangs and violence. Whether they have to work to support their parents or babysit their siblings when they get home, my students come to school no matter the difficulties they face.

My indefatigable students put in the effort to learn every day and they do it to make sure they can create a better life for themselves and their families.

My students are resilient and work hard to not only help build a positive relationship within the school, but also in the community as well.

My Project

When working with students with disabilities, it can be a bit of a challenge to them refocused after they have been triggered. Students with special needs, need time to de-escalate and come back to learning. Having a sensory zone in the class will give my students the opportunity to refocus and come back to the learning environment so they do not miss any instruction.

If provided rocking chairs and sensory tools, it would benefit students who have Autism or ADHD come back to learning because it will give them a chance to de-escalate in a safe place.
