Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach autistic children with a variety of intellectual, physical, and sensory impairments as well as emotional difficulties. My students are focusing their time in school on preparing for life skills and a transition into middle school; that looks different for every student. We work with each student individually to help them communicate what their personal goals and visions for their futures are.

My students are looking forward to being as independent as possible in order to increase their confidence and educational success.

Due to the sensory difficulties and cognitive deficits, we are requiring much more sensory development items this year. My students desperately need sensory stimulation to help with social development. My students will also benefit greatly from flexible seating such as a C529BU FlexSpace Balance Ball Seat 22 Blue to help with fidgeting and staying on task in a comfortable and alternative way.

My Project

My students are looking forward to being as independent as possible in order to increase their confidence and educational success.

Each has a diagnosis of autism, and the degree to which they are impacted varies from student to student.

The sensory materials will help me help my students learn to regulate their own sensory needs in a fun way. The SpaceSaver ColorChanging Light Table will help integrate the sensory items we already have in class as they will be able to explore these items in a new and stimulating way.

My students are severely impacted by their disorder, but when their sensory needs are regulated effectively, they are more in control of their little bodies. With your help, we can help them learn to regulate their own needs as well as provide some fun hands-on activities for developing sensory regulation.
