This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school was recently just awarded the A+ School of Excellence award. My students, their parents, fellow coworkers and I feel very blessed to be a part of a school that supports, loves the community and all go above and beyond to support each other. I teach students in the fourth, fifth, and sixth grades.

My students have a wide range of disabilities and a wide range of abilities.

My students love hands-on, active, and engaging activities that allow them to have unique learning experiences. My students are all working hard on academic skills that are appropriate to their developmental levels. This also includes life skills and independent work skills. These skills will allow them to be successful in their future school years, as well as when they are adults living in our community.

Having such a diverse group of students requires many to be serviced in many areas including occupational therapy, speech therapy, sensory therapy. The students in my classroom have developmental needs including academic delays, social-emotional challenges, and sensory needs. I strive to be the best for my students and create a safe environment that promotes confidence, personal goals, and achieving our dreams.

My Project

These materials will make a huge difference in our reading and writing curriculum. Every day, my students need practice and repetition with writing letters or working on various math skills we have focused on. Using the color writing pads as sensory writing tools will be a fun and engaging way to helps the students with retention of learning as well as develop an understanding of the letters, name, and sound that correlates with it. We will use the different phonics and math games when we are working on a more play-type activity that focuses on the skill that was learned in class helps to make successful learners. This is so vital in their development and it is a critical time to build these skills in young learners.
