The students in my classroom this year are sweet, young, loving kids. They range from the ages of 3-5. The students enjoy our free choice centers within the classroom. The students enjoy when we bring out and rotate new centers. To see them smile helps brighten my day. Every day is a new adventure with our class.
Sensory breaks are key for students with Autism.
Sensory breaks allow the students' bodies and brains to take a break, then when we regroup, the students will be more focused.
My Project
The students will benefit from these resources daily. The sensory-based learning materials would help the students take brain breaks during the school day.
The items would help them practice their sight words and sorting skills while the washable dot markers would be used during free art centers.
The students will be able to practice their counting with one-to-one correspondence, as well as everyday life skills with the use of these materials. The calming jellyfish would be on during the day; it would have a calming effect, especially during nap time. The items would also help the students learn to share and work together.
We could incorporate the learning materials into our everyday classroom routine, center rotation and planned sensory breaks.
