Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Who doesn't love an obstacle course? Well, my Students with Special Needs are no different! Young children learn by playing, and these tunnels will provide ALL STUDENTS with the same excitement and experience of navigating a covered pathway.
Sensory play during Adapted Physical Education encourages learning through exploring the environment, curiosity, problem solving and creativity all while participating in gross motor skills.
My students will be able to practice the following with this equipment:
*Navigate in and out of a pathway
*Visually localize equipment
*Independently maneuver a covered pathway
*Maneuver a covered pathway with adult support
*Localize different textures using touch (smooth, rough, soft, etc)
The MOST amazing part of these giant Sensory Tunnels is that my students who utilize walkers, gait trainer and wheelchairs are ALL able to go through as independently as possible or with as much support as they need!
