My Students
My students are energetic preschoolers who love to play and learn. They are all working on growing their language, social and academic skills in a play based, special education preschool classroom. Many of my students are non- or mostly non-verbal. In my classrooms we work on providing functional communication for all students using spoken words, visuals, AAC and sign language to best fit the student's needs.
My Project
My classrooms support three to five year-olds with a large variety of disabilities and needs. Many of my students are very sensory seeking. We use many fidgets and chewies in the classroom to support the student's sensory needs and learning. The fidgets are also used to aid in student transitions throughout the building such as going to the playground or for entry and dismissal.
When the students are able to regulate themselves via these sensory tools, we see a huge difference in their ability to focus and learn in the classroom.
