Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As students grow, we want them to identify and advocate for their sensory preferences to regulate their own mental and physical needs so they can engage more independently and successfully in their complex academic tasks.
Students need to explore to learn about the tools and regulatory strategies that work for their specific needs to succeed during all of their school years and beyond!
My students are curious and ready to try new things. I have seen significant positive changes when students find a sensory noise cancellation earmuffs tool that helps them feel safe and secure in their bodies such as sand, hand cream, or fidget toys. Our ability to self-regulate and manage our sensory processing impacts every aspect of our lives. The feeling of being regulated translates across the students' academic and personal environments so they can be successful in their growing, playing, and learning!
