This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am requesting items to support my students with ADHD and sensory difficulties. I am hoping with these items I can better support my students with 504 and IEPs.
The students in my classroom love to learn and a few of them have a really hard time focusing and require items to help their sensory needs so that they can reach their potential.
It is important to remember that ADHD is not just about hyperactivity and the inability to focus, but also on social and emotional regulation, which these items would help provide.
The blocks, stepping stones, and various fidgets can be used by all students in the calming corner as well as those with ADHD and sensory processing to take a break before returning to class. The crash pad is a great resource to use as the base for the calming corner for students to lay down or sit on to get the tactile sensory while using fidgets to help aid in regulating their emotions.
