This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our school is currently in the process of training our staff on how to better support our students with autism and/or sensory integration challenges. We need a space supplied with the play-doh, kinetic sand, balance ball chairs and other tools that will help our students self-soothe when they are overwhelmed.
We have found that approximately 35% of our student population has autism, sensory integration problems, and/or challenges with self-soothing and self-regulation.
If we can provide a comfortable space for our students, then we can support them through challenging experiences and improve their learning experience while decreasing behavior difficulties.
