This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I work with neurodiverse students both in the Gifted and Talented and Math Intervention spaces (twice-exceptional), kinder through 8th grade. The students I work with have many sensory needs and require access to sensory tools to regulate while engaging with learning. I will teach the students how to use each tool (fidgets, noise-canceling headphones, flexible seating, sensory mats and boards, etc.) and keep the tools on a "sensory tool shelf" so that students can access the tools when needed. I also need math manipulatives (100 and 20 bead rekenreks) for students to engage with hands-on and engaging math learning. I will also offer the option for students to "check out" items from my resource room for use in their other classrooms so they can advocate for what they need.
