Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a Title I public school in Arizona. A majority of our students come from poverty or come from a home where English is not the first language.
I am the community preschool teacher at my school.
My preschool students range in age from 3 through 5 years old. Half of my students are on an IEP for speech and language. My students come to school eager to learn each and every day. I absolutely love my students!
My Project
The sensory table is one of most popular centers in the preschool classroom. Sensory tables allow children to play using all of their senses. Items in the sensory table will encourage children to touch, smell, see and hear. Sensory activities facilitate exploration and naturally encourage children to use scientific processes while they play, create, investigate and explore. The sensory table will encourage language among students and increase their new vocabulary as they talk about their experience. Sensory beanbags, sand and water marbles will also help develop their fine motor muscles. Children who engage in sensory experiences alongside others learn to share, negotiate and plan.
