This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My special needs students need support with sensory input and regulation. Many of my students feel a constant urge to chew on something and will put anything in their mouth to satisfy that need or urge.
It is my hope that the sensory chews and fidgets will help provide my students with the sensory input their bodies need to self-regulate.
The sensory chews will help my students with an oral urge to chew, and the sensory fidgets will help my students with a tactile urge to touch/manipulate with their hands.
My goal is that my students will use these items to help regulative themselves, their emotions, their moods and their nervous system. If they feel at ease within their bodies, they will be more able to attend and learn in the classroom.
My students are all special needs students in a self-contained classroom. They require extra support, especially with sensory input and emotional regulation.
