My Students

As a teacher in a special education self-contained classroom in a low-income school district, my students are faced with challenges inside and outside of the classroom. Despite the many challenges that my students are facing, I am looking to provide them with a fun, interactive, and meaningful learning environment.

My students have a multitude of needs including physical, cognitive, medical, fine motor, sensory, and communication.

They love learning through a multitude of different means such as sensory activities. They learn best though creative and sensory activities.

My Project

Many students need assistance with calming their bodies to be able to concentrate on the tasks that are being presented to them. Many students require a weighted animal or lap pad to be able to sit and attend during structured activities. My students' needs vary depending on the day. Some days they need a weighted object and other days they need deep pressure to be able to concentrate. These materials would be used by my students daily.

Every student deserves the chance to learn.

I would use the light table materials to help my students take sensory breaks so that they can learn during the structured activities.
