My Project

In my special education Autism classroom, we foster an inclusive environment that supports individual needs. Embracing neurodiversity, I aim to create a space that maximizes student potential by finding the ways that my students learn best.

Many students with autism benefit from a multisensory approach to instruction.

I am seeking board books, sensory learning tools, and interactive reading/math materials. By incorporating these items into my instruction, my teaching will align with the varied learning styles of my students.

The goal of this project is to enhance the literacy, math, self-regulation skills, and overall achievement of my students with autism. The requested materials engage multiple senses simultaneously, promoting retention and comprehension of taught skills.

An indirect, but impactful, effect of this project is inclusion in the whole school. Each of my students comes to my classroom for parts of their day to receive individualized instruction. However, each are an important community member in general education, grade level homerooms where they access meaningful inclusion. My classroom aims to accelerate learning, teaching the skills that students can then generalize into their grade-level classrooms. My goal is for students to require less time with me, and more time accessing grade-level content and making social connections in their homerooms. These materials can be used as specialized supports in my classroom, but can also be used during push-in instruction to provide more targeted academic support in homerooms.

In conclusion, the requested items will enrich learning for my students with autism. These resources will not only address their unique learning styles but also contribute to their overall well-being and success in their general education homerooms. Your support will directly impact the lives of these exceptional individuals, providing them with the support they need to thrive academically and socially.
