Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a Title I charter school serving a community just outside Los Angeles. Our school focuses on leadership, service learning, and social-emotional growth. My fourth grade class includes a diverse group of students, with a wide range of interests and abilities. They are inspired to make a difference in their community, and do so through service learning projects throughout the school year.

Due to economic need, most of my students receive free or reduced price lunch.

They are special in many ways, especially in their love of learning! They enjoy watching videos and participating in Physical Education virtually. They also love drawing, journaling, and dancing. My students are very sweet and we are learning to recognize and celebrate our unique strengths and talents.

My Project

This year has been like no other, and students need tools to manage the stress and anxiety that comes with a major transition. Though my students are excited and happy to be back at school, they are dealing with many big emotions and need help managing these feelings.

These sensory toys will help relieve the stress and anxiety students are experiencing during the transition back to school.

Providing these sensory tools for my students will help them focus, calm down, and relax. In addition, the sensory toys will help them develop fine motor function and problem solving skills.
