My Project
I want to expand the STEAM framework of my school into the speech room. Last year students at my school found these sensory items to be highly engaging during therapy sessions. The students were more attentive and it was easier for them to wait their turn. I want to be able to expand the use for the upcoming school year.
There are countless ways sensory materials can be used to strengthen our learning and increase the carry over of speech and language skills.
The students will sort, find language targets, get exposed to new textures, follow directions, build, and more when they use these sensory materials. All these activities make speech more relevant to the students lives. Help me increase the sensory options I am able to offer my students.
