My Project
Sensory tables allow children to learn through hands-on play while supporting their development in all areas. Sensory tables improve a child's fine motor development through strengthening the hand muscles by squeezing, scooping, digging, and pouring. Students are given the opportunity to explore multiple senses. Children develop cognitive skills through play when utilizing the various materials in the sensory table. The sensory table can also be a calming experience for a child who is feeling overwhelmed or feels the need to relax. The sensory table also develops language and social development through peer interaction and conversation.
