This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students require accommodations. As a result, providing social emotional learning opportunities, sensory, and technology can have a positive impact on their over-all well being. Currently, my students have the opportunity to engage daily in SEL learning, however they continue to need a variety of tangible strategies to help reinforce positive behavior. The anger management tools will be ideal to add to our behavioral tool box. Students turn to the classroom behavioral management tool box when they need a break and or to regain their composure. In addition, a sensory friendly environment can help my students focus and learn in a calm manner as the sensory tool can calm students down and help them maintain focus while learning. Sensory tools are known to reduce anxiety while helping students to retain information. The sensory tools will be used to fulfill student sensory input, as needed. Furthermore, technology, like the tablet requested in this project, can be used for individualized instruction and meet students’ learning styles. Most of my students are visual learners. Therefore, technology will help them acquire essential skills needed to meet their academic goals. Students will have access to a variety of apps that will provide them with academic and social emotional learning as well as calming sounds and games. In conclusion, provisions of social emotional, sensory, and technology experience can help foster a positive and engaged learning experience for my students.
