Sensory Seeking Students

My students need items to help with sensory overload. Popping bubbles, sensory balls, water mats can offer tactile needs they are seeking. The trampoline, stepping stones and rocky boat will help the vestibular system!

My Students

My children have all been classified with Autism. This disability requires my children to learn differently. As a teacher, I need space in the classroom for them to seek out sensory stations and utilize movement. This is a challenge while incorporating creativity to do this on daily basis. Many of these children come from a low socioeconomic background, which puts them at risk for being disadvantaged.

I strongly believe every child has the right to learn, explore, and experience life to the best of their ability.

As their teacher, I promise to advocate for my students to have the same educational advantages as other children.

In recent years, there has been a drastic cut of funding for our district and, without you, these children will not be given the same opportunities as other children. With your help, I can provide the best educational opportunity possible and have materials for my children to reboot their sensory systems when they are on overload. Our learning may look different and may need different materials and thanks to you, they can get them!

My Project

This project will allow my students to learn in their own unique way. My children are all nonverbal and when they are upset it is a guessing game to figure out exactly what they need.

My project materials will be a huge help to the teachers and students offering the sensory needs they are seeking.

Jumping on a trampoline can satisfy a desire for my students. Exploring sensory balls, magnetic tiles, and slot builders will allow my children to reverse some tactile defensiveness they may have. Bringing materials inside will allow them to work on their gross motor skills when it is the cold winter. Most importantly the extreme temperatures will not allow a lapse in their development.
