My students need these wobble chairs, balance ball and sensory resources to help them choose a calming strategy when tasks or demands become too overwhelming.
My students like to move, they need breaks throughout their learning, and require redirection for focusing as well as lots of positive praise when on task. We are in an integrated classroom that supports many different learning styles, needs, and supports. From the minute they walk in the door, we focus on their potential and growth while they are with us. We may not be able to control their home lives; however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic and emotional excellence.
My Project
I am requesting some classroom sensory and calming resources for our classroom. I want my students to be able to choose a coping mechanism or strategy when the workload or stimulation becomes too overwhelming, and they need a break. I also want them to be able to sit in chairs that will allow them to have their active bodies without causing a disruption to themselves or others in the classroom.
The multi-faceted wobble chairs, and sensory seeking resources will be an added bonus to this classroom and will benefit the individual needs of our students.
My students need to have many opportunities to calm and refocus when times become too overwhelming. By using the resources provided, students will be exposed to many facets of coping through excessive stimulation, the tedious workload, and the constant academic demands of a community school classroom.
