My Students
Our school is a therapeutic day school with the goal of providing emotional support and academic opportunities for school-aged children who are unable to succeed in a typical school setting due to their behavioral needs. Many of our school's students reside in a residential treatment facility, in foster homes, or in emergency foster care facilities.
Our school functions as a positive behavior, trauma-informed, and crisis intervention program, aiming to assist our students in helping them grow from their past trauma and learn to cope with safe and effective strategies.
Although our students can be rather challenging, our students are the most resilient and determined. Their perseverance, compassion, and desire to learn inspires our school staff daily. My goal is to create a safe, welcome, and warm environment where my students can continue to grow, learn, feel loved, and become productive members of our community.

My students come from challenging backgrounds and neighborhoods, making for some difficult times at school.
I try my hardest to keep my students engaged with the lesson, activity, or game we're playing. Sometimes my lesson plans can only help my students focus so much. Incorporating novelty and excitement into our academic activities can be the best way to keep my students' attention!
I am requesting some flexible seating options that I believe will help our students wiggle less and focus more. The yoga ball chairs will help my students move in their seats without distracting those around them. My students use yoga balls during gym and become so excited at their sight! The bouncy bands will help keep my students' tapping feet to a quiet, private fidget.
