Sensory School Counselor Items for Students!

Help me give my students sensory items and conversational dice for my school counseling office.

My Project

Students' mental health around depression and anxiety is at an all-time high. Learning in the classroom will not be possible for them until some of their immediate mental health needs are addressed, allowing them to shift their brain into learning mode instead of just survival mode. Students come to my office around the clock looking for help to calm down and talk through what is bothering them before they can return to their classroom and learn.

The sensory calming items help students focus on something other than the distressing thoughts or the adult in the room.

The conversational dice and cards help students open up and talk through the issue in a non-threatening manner. No longer is an adult peppering them with questions. Instead, the sensory items allow students to focus their attention elsewhere, while the conversational dice allow nonjudgmental questions - for it's the dice "asking" the question, not the adult!

Once students are calm and in a good place, their brain is literally "freed up" to return to the classroom where their engagement and learning increases.
