My Project
My class is a self-contained classroom encompassing children from kindergarten through second grade with autism spectrum disorders, emotional and social disabilities, and trauma related conditions. My students are focusing their time on learning grade level curriculum, working towards individualized goals, as well as learning social emotional skills. Our school is a Title 1 school located in Lawton, Oklahoma. Many of our students come from low-income and military families. The sensory items such as the figits, weighted lap buddies, and neck pets will provide the students with tactile activities to help calm their bodies and mind.
