My Students
As a teacher in a low-income, high-poverty school district, I work with students in an ICT (integrated co-teaching) setting who are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking for a way children can extend their education in the classroom.
Education is the key to the future for tomorrow's leaders.
Learning is better when there are more materials to go around. My students come to school ready to learn, but they need the appropriate classroom resources in order to deepen their knowledge. My school has very limited resources due to budget cuts. Materials needed to effectively teach a lesson are scarce, and the requested items will help tremendously.
My Project
Many students learn in different ways, but most students learn best through play and hands-on materials! Sensory play is not just playing, but a great opportunity for students to learn. Sensory play builds nerve connections in the brain's pathways, which lead to the child's ability to complete more complex learning tasks.
Sensory play supports language development, cognitive growth, fine and gross motor skills, problem-solving skills, and social interaction.
Having a sensory playgroup in my school will help students play and learn at the same time.
Sensory play can involve mindful activities which are beneficial for all children.
