My Project
Our school is a high-poverty, Title I school. My classroom is composed of atypical developing students in grades Pre-K up to 5th grade (ages 4-11). Some of the diagnoses seen in our classroom are Autism, Developmental Delays, Down-Syndrome, Intellectual Disability, and other health impairments such as speech and language and attention deficit disorder. In addition to our special education resource room, I service 40+ students with similar disabilities in the general education classroom setting.
Each and every student is full of energy and excitement and their needs are unique from each other.
Even with a shortage of supplies, we come in each day excited to learn something new and we leave school each afternoon with minds roaming and ready to learn more. We have amazing typical peers around our school that help our atypical students with general education inclusion opportunities such as lunch and physical education times. These students help to achieve goals and become better in everything our learners do.
I couldn’t be more thankful for the group of students I have this year and those that have spent the last 2-3 years with me.
